The short version: BurnRate does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data. Everything happens locally in your browser.
BurnRate is a Chrome extension that scans public posts on X (formerly Twitter) for mentions of AI agents and displays estimated cost badges. Clicking a badge shows a cost breakdown. That's it.
None. Specifically:
All processing happens in your browser. When you view a page on X, the extension reads the visible tweet text on the page, checks for AI-related keywords, and calculates cost estimates using a local pricing table. No data leaves your device for this process.
If you purchase BurnRate Pro, you'll enter a license key to unlock premium features. When you activate your key, the extension sends a single validation request to the Gumroad API (api.gumroad.com) to confirm your license is valid. This request contains only your license key — no personal data, browsing history, or device identifiers are sent.
Your license status is stored locally in Chrome's storage.local so the extension doesn't need to re-validate on every session.
The only external service BurnRate communicates with is Gumroad for license key validation. Gumroad's own privacy practices are governed by their privacy policy. No other third-party services, analytics platforms, or tracking tools are used.
BurnRate requests the minimum Chrome permissions necessary to function:
No other permissions are requested or used.
BurnRate is not directed at anyone under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
If we ever change how BurnRate handles data, we'll update this page and the "Last updated" date above. Since we currently collect nothing, any change would only make this policy longer, not shorter.
